Aid Projects Information
Mutual Aid and Support formed an important part of the work of the EBF from its beginning, mainly through the Baptist Relief Fund, but in the early days was confined very much to Baptists in the western countries helping one another, the strong bering the burdens of the weak, particularly through the years of European reconstruction immediately after the Second World War.
Duringf the Cold War opportunities for assistance in Eastern Europe were of necessity limited but the work continued in all kinds of ways, mostly without too much publicity and always on an open basis with choices being made as far as possible by churches in the east rather than those in the west.
With the termination of the Cold War there was an explosinn of Aid which found expression in Baptist Response-Europe, much of it cobining resources from Europe and North America.
