Periodical Index Databases
Individual articles are not ,catalogued’ as is done with books but they are ,indexed‘, that is a short note made of the article’s author, title and the journal in which it is found. Often also the subject is included in the index and sometimes even a short summary of the contents.
ATLA Religion Database
The ATLA Religion Database includes more than 555,000 article citations from more than 1,656 journals, more than 232,000 essay citations from over 16,700 multi-author works, more than 511,000 book review citations. Remote access available from Moodle.
Index Theologicus
It has European focus and contains bibliographic data of articles from more than 600 journals, Festschriften and conference proceedings.
IngentaConnect
Ingenta is an internet database that collects information (including abstracts) on many millions of articles in various disciplines. Even if you are prepared to pay for the articles, the database is very helpful in building bibliographies.
Theological Journals Search
A search engine built to search freely available “over 300 religion journals related to scripture studies, systematic theology, practical ministries, and cognate disciplines.”
