The J D Hughey Memorial Lectures in Baptist history and identity

Introduction

The Hughey Memorial Lectures were the idea of Professor H Wayne Walker Pipkin, the famous Anabaptist historian, who served on the faculty of IBTS at Rüschlikon during the 1980’s. This was part of a major initiative of his to develop the Institute for Baptist and Anabaptist Studies during his time serving IBTS.

An appeal was launched to raise an Endowed Lectureship, but following the departure of Walker Pipkin in the late 1980’s the lectureship was not realised until Dr Phyllis Rogerson Pleasents joined the IBTS Faculty in the 1990’s and sought to take forward the idea.
