Thomas Helwys Institute for Study of Religious Freedom was founded at Bristol Baptist College in March 2002, transferred to IBTS, Prague in 2006.
The Role of the Thomas Helwys Centre
It is hoped that, within its present modest resources the Thomas Helwys Centre might:
- be a resource for the Baptist denomination and our ecumenical partners in considering this aspect of human rights.
- through its Reference Group, provide expertise for Baptists and other groups who want to respond to particular instances
- build up a library of books, journals and papers relating to religious freedom
- become a study resource for those who want to study human rights and religious freedom
- organise seminars and the occasional conference on aspects of religious freedom
- network with those Baptists and others working nationally and internationally in the field
