IBTS values the many hundreds of volunteers who have worked with us. Volunteers have been a feature of IBTS ever since it was founded in Switzerland in 1949. However, Volunteers came into their own with the move to Prague and the development of the site in Jenerálka. Over 1.000 volunteers from the USA and Europe worked on the redevelopment. In succeeding years we have continued to rejoice in the teams which have come from the USA, Europe and the Middle East.
Volunteers are needed with any skills
We have many tasks where volunteers are urgently required. Here are samples of ways we have used volunteers in recent years:
- Working on automation of our 70.000 volume Library catalogue
- Building an Adventure playground for children
- Developing Camping and Barbecue facilities
- Improving landscaping
- Making and installing stained glass windows in the Seminary Chapel
- Painting rooms and buildings
- Housekeeping and cooking
- Improving our sound systems and satellite receiver reception
- Working in our Book and Gift shop
- Assisting members of the Directorate in administrative and office work.
Volunteers fromaround the world
We welcome volunteers from throughout the USA, Europe and the Middle East. The following agencies work with us in recruiting and sending volunteers:
- North Carolina Baptist Men
- Cooperative Baptist Fellowship
- American Baptist Churches International Ministries
- Baptist Missionary Society (United Kingdom)
- Baptist Unions and Conventions throughout Europe and the Middle East.
Volunteer now!
If you have time on your hands and feel that you could help with such work why don’t you drop us a line? If you feel you could bring a group from your Church then that would be good. You can come for a week, a month or even a year!
As well as working, there is opportunity to talk with the students and their families, conference groups or visitors. They come from many parts of the world and it is interesting to hear their individual stories. Prague too is abounding in history, music and other cultural activities. So there is plenty to see and do in an evening and at weekends.
