Director

Dr Enoh Šeba

PhD (Spurgeon's College/University of Chester)

Prior to his appointment at IBTS, Enoh held the position of Secretary and Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Theology Matthias Flacius Illyricus, University of Zagreb, Croatia, from 2004 to 2024.
During this two-decade tenure, he regularly delivered courses in Research Methodology, Homiletics, Liturgics, and other areas within Practical Theology. His academic engagement extended beyond teaching to include participation in several empirical field studies investigating the roles and societal contributions of Baptist and other Protestant minority congregations in Croatia. These projects also examined the theological convictions of these communities as manifested in their liturgical and communal practices.
Since September 2024, Enoh has served as Director of IBTS.

Research Interests

Enoh's research interests are in the domain of practical theology. He is profoundly intrigued by the practice of preaching, particularly within churches that accord the sermon the utmost significance as a pivotal component of their worship services. He seeks to examine two distinct gaps: firstly, the divide between preachers and their listeners; and secondly, the discrepancy between the profound potential of preaching and its occasionally suboptimal outcomes and hindered reception.
Another of his interests is the development of liturgical elements in worship, with a particular focus on those traditions that favour 'spontaneous' forms of worship.
In addition, he is dedicated to the study of the practical expressions of unity among Christians from different churches.
Across his research interests, Enoh typically initiates inquiry through empirical methodologies and the descriptive tasks of theology. However, he consistently integrates these findings with theological reflection, progressively advancing toward a more prescriptive orientation.
