IBTS

IBTS x EBF Apprenticeship Programme

Step Into a Year of Formation

The IBTS Apprenticeship Programme is a one-year, part-time opportunity for young adults aged 18–30 who are already active in their local churches, unions, or communities and have a growing interest in education, theology, and local mission. Rooted in IBTS’s learning-centred approach, the programme is designed to support personal growth, local engagement, and active participation in the life and ministry of IBTS and the EBF.

Programme Focus

The programme centres around three key areas of development:

1. Individual and Personal Development

Each apprentice receives personalised support to grow in their identity, learning, and leadership, through:

One-on-one mentoring throughout the year

A learning-centred training course, developed and led by IBTS

Cultural sensitivity training, helping apprentices engage effectively in diverse contexts

2. Investing Locally

Apprentices are encouraged to strengthen and deepen their local ministry through:

Designing and leading a learning/training event in their church or community

Reading and reflecting on their local culture and context

Accessing tools and resources that support what they are already doing

3. International Engagement

Apprentices also get a chance to be involved in the IBTS Learning Network and the life of the EBF, where they can:

Contribute their gifts and skills through individual or group projects;

Either join existing initiatives or develop new projects aligned with EBF and IBTS’s values, approach and ministries.

Who Can Apply?

The programme is open to young adults aged 18–30 who:

Are already active locally in a church, union, or community context;

Are interested in education, theology, and how learning can shape life and ministry;

Are eager to learn more about the EBF and actively participate in its ministry;

Want to grow through IBTS’s learning-centred approach;

Are eager to share their own skills and insights within a broader network.

Time Commitment

 Approximately 6 hours per week, including time already spent in local ministry or volunteer roles. This also includes a monthly 1-on-1 meeting with their mentor, as well as a meeting with the programme supervisor(s) every 4-8 weeks. The programme will begin with a residential (in-person) meeting of the group alongside the EBF Annual Council on 21-26 September in Albania.
