Join us for a one-off free webinar exploring The Inner Life of a Leader Course. This course explores the inner life of leadership - our identity in Christ, our emotional and spiritual awareness, and how these shape the way we relate to others.
Drawing on Scripture and time-tested spiritual practices, you’ll learn to recognise your strengths and blind spots, discern your calling, and lead with both courage and compassion.
Designed as an introduction to the full course, it’s suitable for anyone serving in church, ministry, education, or cross-cultural contexts.
The Inner Life of a Leader is one of four core modules within the IBTS Missional Leadership Certificate: a two-year formation track designed to cultivate thoughtful, self-aware, and contextually engaged leaders.
The Missional Leadership theme unfolds across four interconnected courses, offered over two years:
Spring 2026 – Reimagining Mission Together (Learning to See and Join God’s Work)
Fall 2026 – The Inner Life of a Leader (Growing in Self-Awareness and Calling)
Spring 2027 – Formed to Lead (The Art of Mentoring and Modelling Christ)
Fall 2027 – Hospitality and Leadership (Becoming Guests and Hosts in God’s Mission)
Each course builds on the others, integrating mission, character, mentoring, and community into a coherent and holistic vision of missional leadership.
This structure allows participants to integrate learning directly into their ministry and leadership contexts while remaining connected to a cohort of peers.
Certificate Completion
Participants who complete the requirements of an individual course will receive a Certificate of Completion.
Those who complete all four modules will be awarded the Missional Leadership Practitioner Certificate from IBTS, recognising sustained engagement in missional formation and leadership development.

Revd Dr. Andrew Clarke is the Leadership Development Lead for the Scottish Baptist Union and is a Senior Research Fellow at IBTS. Revd Dr. Andrew Clarke invests in the development of ministers, leaders and chaplains within the Baptist Union of Scotland. For a number of decades, he has been especially interested in how the setting of the earliest Christian communities encouraged particular forms of leadership. In today's context, he loves to see how small Christian communities are particularly useful for developing leaders and disciples.
