Where are the peacemakers? It seems that wherever we look there is conflict and disturbance. Whether on international news, down our street, or on our social media, we see aggression and violence. Even the natural environment seems to be marked by unrest. Our world is crying out for peacemakers!
IBTS is deeply rooted in the Baptist tradition of peace and reconciliation. Our education and research are not simply about peace, but our approaches to learning seek to embody the practices and habits that make for peace. Whatever subject you are studying at IBTS you learn together with people from around the world with different ways of seeing life. Learning with others can be a powerful experience which involves new ways of seeing ourselves and at the same time opens deeper understanding of God. To learn in this way is to be transformed.
During Pentecost we reflect on the incredible vision of people drawn by the Spirit of Christ from all cultures, ethnicities, and social situations into peaceful participation with him. We pray that on this Pentecost Sunday your community would more deeply discover the peaceful ways of God’s Spirit.
